With all the productivity and online blogging tools out there, it’s easy to get caught up in the craziness of trying to choose the ones that are easy to use, efficient, and that are easy on the budget.
Each tool has different features — some are worth paying for, some, not so much. But in the end, you need something that is simple and that you can count on. Something that will not only keep you on track but to also help build your blog. Something that keeps you from reaching for the Advil on a daily basis.
Here are my top picks of online blogging tools that will take your productivity to a whole new level.
As far as social media scheduling platforms goes, Hootsuite takes the cake. Not only do they have a free plan that allows you to post to three social media accounts, the plan also allows you to use Hootsuite’s auto scheduler, basic analytics, RSS feed integrations, and integrations to over 150 free and paid apps.
In addition, they have a pretty neat social media courses that you can use to take your social status to the next level. Personally, I use Hootsuite’s free plan to post to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
I am a Pinterest junkie, and after seeing how much traffic Pinterest drives to my website, I was sold on using this popular platform for my blogging business. However, to keep the engagement going, you need to pin a lot. After a while, it get’s pretty exhausting.
Enter Tailwind. What would I do without this tool? Tailwind allows you to schedule tons of pins ahead of time at times that the platform finds to be optimal for your Pinterest account. It really takes the headache out of searching and pinning to your boards.
Tailwind features extensions for both Chrome and Safari and an iOS app for scheduling on the go. It gets to know your boards, offering up pin suggestions to add to your schedule and also allows you to join and create Tribes, which makes it easy to find pins in your niche.
Finally, the analytics are fantastic! Tailwind’s Pin Optimizer allows you to see your most popular pins. You can opt to repin them to keep the momentum going if you so choose.
Tailwind does require a monthly subscription, however, you can take advantage of their free trial to see if you like it or not. As an added bonus, if you sign up for Plus through my referral link, you will receive your first month for free after your trial is up! Winning!
I can not stress enough the importance of having an email list. The issue, however, lies in choosing the best email platform for your blog and your budget. Some can start to really add up in costs, especially if you are subscribing to other tools and services to manage your blog. After trying what seems like EVERY email platform out there, I decided to stick with AWeber. I tried to stick with a free email platform, but I found that they were more headache in the end. I needed a service that was reliable, easy to navigate, and offered me the flexibility to let my brand personality shine.
AWeber does this. The forms are sleek and easy to add to posts and pages. Sequences are super easy to set up and automation is a breeze. And the part I like most? I have full control over designing an easy to access template that reflects my brand to a ’T’.
So, while it isn’t a free email platform, the monthly subscription rate is well worth its weight in gold. They offer great training to get you up and running, the ability to import your current email list from another email platform, incredible integrations with virtually any app out there, and super simple, straight-to-the-point analytics.
You can try out AWeber for free to see if it’s a great fit for you as well! Click here to check out AWeber.
In an effort to try to save as many trees as possible, I decided to move my project and task management lists to a digital platform. That, and I am tired of paper clutter and my already scattered brain needs constant reminders to stay on track.
The problem I have is paying for a project or task management platform to keep my projects organized when there are so many free options out there. Sure, I could use Google Spreadsheets or something of the sort, but seriously, I want all my stuff in one place, reminders and all.
Asana has been a game changer for me. I can create projects, break them down into tasks, then break those tasks down into subtasks and set reminders to keep my butt in line. The app integrates with Evernote, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Dropbox, Slack, Harvest, Zapier, and a bunch more. It really is a beautiful thing and doesn’t cost me a dime.
5. Wealthy Affiliate
I saved my favorite for last. Wealthy Affiliate isn’t really a tool, but it’s the tools that Wealthy Affiliate offers its members that impress me. You can join Wealthy Affiliate for free and take advantage of incredibly valuable starter training, community support, keyword search tool (up to 30 searches per month), 2 websites plus hosting (crazy, right?), blog templates, WordPress, and live chat.
I loved Wealthy Affiliate so much that I quickly upgraded to Premium and transferred the hosting of my other websites over. The Premium upgrade includes unlimited premium domain websites and hosting, free SSL certificates for each site, unlimited keyword lists, access to ALL of Wealthy Affiliate’s training, a video and blog database, and personal support every single day. Quite honestly, I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface!
The starter package is free for as long as you want, no strings attached. The Premium upgrade costs $49 per month or you can save even more by paying yearly. Give it a go and find out for yourself!
